POKOTABI / Kojitsu Ramen
好日
Higashi-Nakano's Kojitsu is known for house-made noodles and additive-free broths built from seafood and meat stocks, serving classic ramen, tsukemen, pan-fried gyoza, and comforting lunch sides.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step past the noren in a quiet residential corner of Higashi-Nakano, and the dining room greets you with the fragrant, savory steam of seafood and meat stocks. Kojitsu keeps to an unpretentious path. Its classic shoyu ramen relies on a gentle broth built patiently from natural ingredients like chicken carcass and dried seafood, working naturally alongside springy, slick medium-thick noodles crafted in-house. Slowly simmered chashu pork stays lean yet deeply flavorful, and adding a seasoned soft-boiled egg turns the bowl into an even more satisfying meal.
The shop's other pillar is tsukemen. Chewy dipping noodles crowned with shredded nori are dipped into a soy-based sauce balancing sweet and sour accents. Sliced chashu, bamboo shoots, and green onions bob within the broth, keeping each dip clean on the palate yet layered with depth. Once the noodles are finished, a tabletop pot of seafood dashi lets you dilute the remaining dip and sip it down to the last drop as a soothing soup.
Alongside the bowls, bite-sized pan-fried gyoza packed with finely chopped vegetables make an appealing side, as does a simple bowl of raw egg over hot rice. At lunchtime, small complimentary bowls of fried rice or bean sprouts occasionally accompany orders, offering generous, affordable fullness.
The understated interior includes table seating, making it comfortable for solo diners taking lunch or families settling in together. Kojitsu does not accept seat reservations and takes cash only, making an impromptu stop for an honest bowl of noodles the natural way to enjoy it.
